Luxe in leather, it’s the fabric of the season. Fall 2020 RTW catwalks have confirmed it.

Black is the new black, from Fendi to Celine. Every season we are excited to spot new trend alerts and watch them pop up on Instagram and the Zara new in page. A classic autumn staple yes, but we’ve never seen leather look so chic. Granted, a new leather jacket has always been on my fall wish list, but this year even more so. I’m a self-confessed sheep and as soon as I saw my favourite influencers sporting leather trench coats and chunky lace up boots, I was sold. Even if it means living on tuna pasta and scrambled eggs for another few weeks, a stunning new wardrobe sounds more appetising. And that’s what fashion students do, right?

Alberta Ferretti’s read-to-wear collection has seriously made me want to drip head to toe in black leather and gold accents. We were gifted with a 52 piece collection which is the epitome of voguish sophistication and was the ultimate trendsetter for the season. Ferretti executed a fantastic collection showcasing leather crop jackets, trench coats and high waisted trousers, focused on female tailoring. Her opening ensemble gave us 80's vibes. Consisting of an oversized jacket with huge lapels, cinched in at the waist with a statement studded belt and paired with baggy trousers (all leather of course). Power dressing is making a comeback, but this time it’s more fun and flirty than corporate.

But Ferretti wasn’t the only designer to exhibit exciting leather fits. Richard Malone married leather looks with repurposing and recycling, as ethically produced trench coats and patchwork leather pants strutted down his catwalk. Balenciaga’s Creative Director, Demna Gvasalia told vouge this seasons catwalk was the “blackest show I ever did”. And what’s a high fashion, pitch-black show without some crazy black leather garments?

Get tied down with lace up boots. Valentino, Mulberry and Rochas led the way with this one. With just a six-year run at Paris Fashion Week, Rochas has got it spot with this one. Chunky lace up bottoms have become the shoe of the season! And in the natural fashion way, high street stores have mimicked it perfectly, in turn becoming the ultimate boot to sport on Instagram.

In unprecedented times, it’s sad to see so many avenues of our industry struggle. Nevertheless, one thing is for certain, fashion will always remain. Talented teams and designers will continue to spark passion and excitement into the industry. Follow us on Instagram to be in the loop of our weekly blog posts and industry news!

Reinventing yourself- Is your outfit key?

Fashion means something different to everyone. For some, it’s an art. For others, a hinderance. Maybe it seems pointless, or shallow, maybe you want to look like a model. But regardless of your view,
